WASHINGTON(5/4/18) NRCA and United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers (UURWAW) are using this year’s National Safety Stand-Down, May 7-11, to kick-off a year-long effort to focus company and worker attention on the significance of fall hazards and the importance of effectively implementing fall-protection systems on every project to prevent falls.

According to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2016 eighty-one workers in the roofing industry died from falls [“Falls, slips & trips]. Since one death is too many, it is up to all of us in the industry to ensure that no family has to suffer the loss of a loved one due to a fall on the job.

Starting in May with the National Safety Stand-Down, and for the next twelve months, the NRCA and UURWAW will engage in an ongoing communication campaign to encourage the entire roofing industry to focus on fall prevention, including offering new resources to use in training programs and on the job.

Please pledge to continue to save lives by increasing awareness of fall hazards. To get started visit the 2018 National Safety Stand-Down at
